Taking place in Shanghai on September 6th and 7th, the Women in Leadership (WIL) Forum China is uniting up to 200 of China’s and Asia’s most influential business leaders – as well as an international delegation from Southeast Asia, the Middle East and the Americas. Now in its 10th edition, the international WIL series has brought together over 2,500 business leaders, industry visionaries, entrepreneurs and policy makers across the Middle East and Asia. In spite of China’s impressive economic development, the country still has many obstacles to overcome including gender discrimination in the work place. A recent study conducted by the National Women’s Federation found half of all women in China say they face gender discrimination and 72 percent say they believe they have fewer professional options than their male counterparts.
What kind of regulations need to be put in place before China begins to see a definitive shift in attitudes towards working women? This question is at the heart of the Women in Leadership Forum to be held this September. Themed “Inspire, Influence and Innovate,” the two-day platform comprises of inspirational keynote addresses, interactive panel discussions and networking sessions all centering around how organizations can empower, reward and promote their female employees.
This invitation-only initiative features high profile speakers including HE Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor, Wife of the Prime Minister of Malaysia; Andrea Morante, Chief Executive Officer of Pomellato; Yang Liu, Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of Atlantis Capital Holdings; Fatima Al Jabel, Chairperson of Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council; Shinta Widjaja Kamdani, owner and Managing Director of Sintesa Group; Wandee Khunchornyakong, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of SPCG Public Company; and Romi Haan, founder, President and CEO of Haan Corporation.
